New Year, new job, new town, same me

A lot’s happened in my life over the last few weeks, but most of it revolves around one basic fact: I quit my job at WideOrbit to take a new one with De Novo Software.  The project I’m working on now is a program for flow cytometry, a type of analysis of medical sample data used in diagnoses and research.  (In Delphi, of course.)  It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun to work on.

The not-fun part involved leaving my beloved Seattle behind and moving waaaaaaay across the country to Los Angeles, where De Novo has its offices.  Things are a bit… different here, to say the least.  And going grocery shopping and getting charged $45 for what should have been $30 worth of food really sucked!  But all in all I think I’m slowly getting accustomed to this place.

It’s going to be an interesting year…

Congratulations on the new job! And welcome to sunny Southern California! Things are definitely more expensive down here, but you have to realize you’re paying for good weather. 😉

By the way, I subscribe to your RSS feed and, for some reason, between the top two paragraphs, a bunch of garbage was inserted including links to suspect websites regarding pay day loans and male enhancement drugs.

  2. Bruce McGee says:

Still working in Delphi, I see. Nice.

Best of luck in sunny California.

  3. David Clegg says:

Congrats on your new job, Mason. I hope your leaving wasn’t partly prompted by me joining WideOrbit last year 🙂

  4. Wow! Congrats, and Happy New Year!

  5. Michael says:

Have fun! Los Angeles is a good, a relaxed place to be and your company’s location seems to be nice too. You will stay for the rest of your life.

  6. Wouter says:

    Congratulations with your new job!

  7. Ondrej Kelle says:

Cool! 🙂 Congratulations and best wishes!

  8. Phi S says:

Congrats! I’ve used flow cytometry in my research (biology rather than medical) and a few of the programs we used sucked – but I wasn’t aware of this software. Looks nice and the fact that it’s in Delphi sounds even nicer. Hope you enjoy the new job!

  9. gabr says:

Congrats, Mason! Did you find De Novo through my webinars?

  10. Phillip Woon says:

Hi Mason. Haven’t spoken to you in a while. Congrats on the new job. I guess I left WO and didn’t communicate with anyone after that. I liked working there, but for some reason I had a bout of depression without my family there. Oh well..
